Oh so cruel I was..

Bird watching was my preferred past time during high school days. I often used to stand in our veranda and watch different birds. Thanks to my granny who has a habit of feeding these winged critters!! Sparrows, woodpeckers, long tailed cuckoos singing and hiding in trees, chasing their mates made a spectacular sight indeed! One of these feathered friends was a slightly lame sparrow who was a regular visitor to the garden. She was my personal favorite and I admired her for her energy and liveliness. One day, (I don't know why) I was throwing pebbles up in the air and unfortunately it hit the poor thing's head. It flew away.....and never came again. This mistake of mine still haunts me....
